"Good morning, my name is Jae. I'm a writer for The Mighty. My pronouns are she and her and I'm originally from Virginia."

Jae lives by this quote because it shows what we go through is not by circumstance but by purpose in order to prepare us for what’s next.

“Fear not for I know the plans I have for you says the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not harm you”

Jeremiah 29:11

Jae has been writing for The Mighty since 2018

Why I write for The Mighty:

«

»

"I write for The Mighty because it's cathartic for me, it is a way for me to process my chronic illnesses but it is also a way to bring awareness to life with multiple chronic illnesses to the community."

"I am torn! I have written two articles that meant a lot to me–one about using a color system versus the spoon theory and another on how I had to stop attending church in person because of my chronic illness. I feel these two articles made an impact on others and showed that they were not alone and that it is okay to go through changes day to day with our illnesses, and showed how our lives change so deeply."

"I am the youngest of three and there are 16 years between me and my oldest sibling! I also hold two master’s degrees in totally different things-- marriage and family therapy and nonprofit management and public policy and administration."

"My advice to others living with chronic illnesses is that you are not alone, reach out to someone, have a support system and do your research on what it is that you are going through. You would be surprised at what you find."

We would not be The Mighty without our community.
